Lisa Pettibone American, b. 1960
Lisa Pettibone creates sensuous wall pieces, sculptures and sculptural vessels from kiln-formed glass and other materials. Drawn to natural forces such as gravity and energy flow, she fuses and slumps (bends) flat glass into extraordinary forms, often displayed in components. Strong line and distinctive shape merge with her fascination with astronomy and the abstract ideas presented by physics.
Her work is held in many private collections and has been shortlisted for national and international awards; Lisa won the National Open Art Prize 2017 Installation category. Exhibiting throughout the UK, she also works to commission for public and private clients and has completed two commissions for the National Trust.
After completing a BA (Hons) 1st class in 3D Glass Design at UCA Farnham in 2005, Lisa set up a studio in rural Surrey where she also teaches. She is currently completing an MA in Art and Science at Central Saint Martin's, London.
Lisa Pettibone is represented exclusively in Cornwall and St Ives by Porthminster Gallery.
