LANDSCAPE ABSTRACTED
Porthminster Gallery hosts its second specially curated exhibition of 2019 with this selling show of collectable paintings and ceramics by four well-established artists. The ongoing engagement in each artist's work with the semi-abstraction of the natural or manmade landscape can be seen as a fresh, contemporary progression of the St Ives Modernist tradition.
The paintings of Andrew Bird and Angela Charles, and the painterly ceramics of Barry Stedman and Craig Underhill, share parallels with the abstract vocabularies of several of the Modernist Movement's foremost names - notably Ben Nicholson, Patrick Heron, Peter Lanyon and Victor Pasmore (examples of whose works will also be on display as a separate collection).
